There’s a light on the hill In the distance there’s a light There’s a light shining still In the night  There’s an army at the gate There’s an army at the walls They’re gathered at the gate And the walls They set siege for seven days For seven days we are besieged We’ve had hope for seven days We’ve had hope If we could persevere For just another day If for one more day We could outlast the siege And for one more day and night The lamp flickered in the breeze Another night ’Twas blazing in the breeze And the oil in the lamps Had almost burned away The lamps have almost burned For seven days There’s a light on the hill In the distance there’s a light There’s a light shining still In the night So we light the lamp again At this joyous time of year To remember Judah & the Maccabees For eight days we light the lamps Eight days we light the lamps To remember Judah and the Maccabees There’s a light on the hill In the distance there’s a light There’s a light shining still In the night There’s a light on the hill In the distance there’s a light There’s a light shining still In the night  There’s a light shining still In the night  There’s a light shining still ……

What are these nights What do they mean Family and Friends No in between Grateful to be Alive and fee It’s time to thank and speak Of history It’s the night of eight candles A feast of Dedication The light of these candles Is passed thru generations It’s the night of eight candles A mantle of tradition In the light of this festival For freedom’s celebration In stories told We learn they stood The few were bold The fight they could Faith over fear Trust in the right Their strength is here So is their light It’s the night of eight candles A feast of Dedication The light of these candles Is passed thru generations It’s the night of eight candles A mantle of tradition In the light of this festival For freedom’s celebration With choices clear What do you choose Challenges near And much to lose Heroic deeds But heroes die Do you stand up and speak Or do you hide

about

Back in 2003, The Maple Street Project were challenged to recorded an EP of Chanukah music. In addition to a bunch of traditional holiday songs, Chanukah On Maple Street also featured original compositions by each of the band's writers.

The limited number of CDs quickly sold out. But these songs are available now for download for the first time - our seasonal gift to you!
